I visited a local gun shop this evening and experienced the same exact thing with a new Featherweight in .270 Win. It took almost no effort to open and close the bolt, and it did not feel like it "locked". No doubts that it could be opened by rubbing against some brush while carrying through the woods.

Other than that, it was a very nice firearm.
