Range Report- Experiment
I wanted ti try Sabot loaders idea that a bigger flame channel between the primer pocket and the touch hole would reduce carbon up and not cause any problems. I shot gongs all the way to 250 and am very happy to say he was right.
I drilled all the way from the primer pocket to where its threaded for the vent liner with a number 24 drill, carbon was reduced considerable.
While I was experimenting I decided to prove a point. Wad pressure [I call it that for lack of a better name] makes a difference. I had an E-Mail that question the statement I made about that the other day, so here is my evidence.
I loaded short so the sabot and bullet was sitting a half inch [about ] above the powder, then pushed it down very carefully with a scale rigged on my range rod the leverage was for the scale but the question was if it made a difference and how much not what pressure to use. Here are the targets shot at 100yds with the wad pressure marked. Lee
