Got an email for a reliable source this morning... at one point the Omega plugs were 416ss and had been hardened... Guess that answers that question...
416 Stainless Steel
A Martensitic free-machining
stainless steel which can be hardened by heat treatment to higher strength and hardness levels.
This is a low cost low grade of stainless that can be machined easily if its not hardened.
Does at one point mean they don't any more?
It sure cut awful easy for being hardened. Lee
