I guess my only answer could be... I don' t know. Do you need one?

Depending on what I' m doing and what bow I' m using, sometimes I do and sometimes I don' t. If I' m shooting to cut X-rings for high score in a tournament, then yes. I need one. If I' m shooting a bow with a lot of recoil, then yes. I need one. If I' m hunting with one of my mild mannered ol' round wheel bows with a deflexed riser that is well balanced without it, then no. I don' t need one.

If you like the way your bow feels and you' re getting good accuracy without one, I' d say save your money.
