I hunt with a 7mm WSM. Pretty much the same thing and Its my go-to rifle for deer. My furthest was 428yds ranged and Ive taken a few more around three. Id get a leupold B&C scope for it. The hold points are right on with short mags and it makes long shots easier. I use a 4.5x14 which I think is perfect for a shorty also. Stay away from ballistic tips. Theyre no good at close range IMO. Barnes triple shocks perform well at all ranges in mine. I also like the swift sciroccos. Theyre hard to beat up close. I load mine around 3150 fps.
