RE: Say a prayer for me and the bear!!
I got back late this afternoon. I tracked him for about 400 yds, before he left the creek bottom. I found 30 ft. of intestine strung out along the tracks. I then lost the trail for about 100yds and found where he attacked a viney maple tree. There was blood, and the tree was bitten in half in several places. I lost the trail again, then found a track in the sand along the creek, then found where he tried to jump up on the bank, and the bank caved off with him on it. I lost the track there, and was not able to pick it back up. I was able to find a couple buddies that where able to help me. We went on down the creek, and combed both sides and the middle. I was not able to find any other sign after the bank. My gut feeling says he is dead not far from where the bank caved off. It is very brushy, and a needle in a haystack would be easier to find. If you want to come down Oregon Archer I will take you into the hole, and we can have another go at it. I am planning on going back tommorow. If anybody in this area want to help, I will return the favor in spades. I am a good pack horse. I just wish I was a better tracker.
