Default RE: Say a prayer for me and the bear!!

Well, I haven' t heard on the news about anybody being eaten by a P.Oed Bear so I have to assume you are still amongst the living, so far,..unless they just haven' t found your carcass yet. They don' t bleed a lot unless it is a superficial wound, all of that fat tends to block any blood from getting to the outside and makes tracking a genuine B$%^*.
I tracked one for a friend last November that didn' t go more than about 70 yds. from where he was hit but it took me a good two hours the next morning in daylight to sort it out. I had stood less than ten yards from where he lay the evening before but could not see him. When I finally found him the next morning, I found one leaf on the ground with a few drops of blood and one sapling with a smear on it then another sapling that had been bent over where he went into the creek. He died before he made the other side and was down behind a dead fall and I nearly messed my pants when I almost stepped on him.
The one I killed a couple of years ago was most gracious in that regard and dropped in his tracks at the base of the tree in which my stand was mounted. I don' t know if you have ever eaten Bear before, but you are in for a rare treat, it is by far the best meat I have ever had. Cook it as if it were a New England pot roast, the meat will be fork tender and sweeter than the best Beef you have ever had.
