I have a Ruger 77 MKII all weather in 270WSM, I handload 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and have taken several deer with it. All have been one shot dead right there shots. It is good out to as far as you can accurately shoot. I have hit steel targets out to 400 meters with no issue. My personal limit on game though would be 300-350 yds. I think you be very happy. Practice, practice and practice some more.
