Dryridge, you hit the nail on the head. I dont care about pelts. I dont know if I wll ever be good enough to hit a target at 1000yds but I will be taking shots between 500 & 700yds for sure. My buddy is picking up a Rem. 700 in a .223 this weekend and ima bout 2 weeks away from having the money saved for what ever I decide to buy. I will have a chance to try his .223 so that may help. Thanks for the 260 tip. I never said I wanted an inexpencive rifle. I know that what I want to accomplish wont come cheap. I load my own so I know how to work up a load. Dont understand the working my way up to it statement. I figure that I have been working up to it already. Not only is a shot at 300yds+ not easy to do, but I am consistant and will take that shot on game with confidence. Im not a newbee to shooting. Just at that distance, is new territory for me. Thanks for all your advice and I will let yall know what I decide on.
