Shaving hair is not the same as slicing through veins and arteries, hair is tougher and more resistant to cutting. The motion used to cut them is also different, you're chopping rather than slicing. Run a broadhead straight from the package across the face of a steak, if it cuts cleanly and easily the blade is sharp enough, if it drags or tears hone it.
