Just to clarify...you essentially want to create your own climber, just with a nicer seat right? If that is the case I can't see too many drawbacks. It might be a little awkward to climb with a non-climbing seat, but it would be possible I suppose. To me you would be better off getting a saving up for a new ultra-comfortable climber. Just my 2 cents worth which is only really worth 1.
