RE: broadheads
Mechanical broadheads are inherently a much weaker design than fixed blade heads. There is no denying it, it's just a fact. You have just one very small screw holding those very long and narrow blades together. Just a very weak design. I know that they work most all of the time but they are definetly prone to failure.
Add to that the fact that many fixed blade heads cut equal amounts of tissue (Muzzy standard 4 blade, Slick trick standard, any other 1" diameter 4 blade) and some even more than a Rage 2 blade (Grizz tricks, slick trick magnum, Muzzy MX4, Wack em Exit, etc...) I just don't see any reason at all to shoot mechanicals.
The broadhead is the only piece of equipment that actually kills the animal. I just don't see any reason at all to take a chance on such an important piece of equipment.
I guess it boils down to what percentage of failure you are willing to accept in your equipment. I try to keep it as low as possible.
