SW,

Do you own the land? If you do, or if the landowner is a friend and gives you permission, you can whack them at night. They are not a game animal and are considered the landowner's 'livestock'. Put a light on your feeder and shoot away.

I'm a member of the hunting club that's leasing the land. It belongs to a timber company. I have thought about doing that and I still might. I just want to try and lure them out first.
Are you hunting in FL or SC ? If in SC, I have a solution for you. I have obtained special permission from my local Wildlife Officer that allows me to hunt at night, so long as I don't use a spot or any other artificial light. I put an ATN nightvision scope on my .44 mag Handi Rifle and sit in a stand over the feeder all night, or at least until the hogs come in. It's the same method you can hunt coyotes with, except that I have a depredation permit to take the hogs instead. All it took was a couple of phone calls and he was more than willing to grant me permission without even looking at the property. SC wildlife officers have routinely told me "We don't care how you kill feral hogs, so long as you kill every one of them you see." They are overtaking natural wildlife habitat faster than ever, and partly due to the lack of hunting pressure by us. Our hogs are nocturnal, no two ways about it. Therefore, either you hunt with dogs, or you hunt at night with a night scope.

If a nightvision scope is out of you price range, I have a solution for that is a lot cheaper and got me by for years until I could afford one. Let me know if that interests you.

Btw, the hog toy is a great idea! I gotta try that one!
