Like Spaniel, I have found Hornady SSTs (very fast ~ 2000 ft/s) to be super-accurate in Remington rifled barrels. I have used these in 2 3/4 inch shells in my 1100 for several years. The damage done to game is impressive, and the recoil (even off of the bench) is not that bad.

They run about $15.00 per box of 5 shells...
