Default Slower sabots better?

I finally got around to putting a scope on my shotgun. I have been shooting Remington Buckhammers for the past couple years because I just got way tighter groups (with open sights, and yes I have a rifled barrel) than I did with copper solids. However I am not going to shoot buckhammers with a scope because the recoil is ridiculous with those things and I am a little worried about "scoping" myself in the face.

I am wondering if the fact that I got better groups with buckhammers could be an indication that my barrel shoots slower sabots better than high speed sabots. If that is the case are there any slower sabots out there without monster recoil? I am going to try the winchester BRI's, and maybe lightfields? Any suggestions on other slugs to try?
