If you are worried about cutting shooting lanes because you think it is too late in the year to do so without messing up your area, I think you will be fine. I hung a few stands last weekend and cut shooting lanes. I don't mow everything down, but I do climb in the stand and identify what needs to come down to get clean shots off. I try not to take whole trees out, but only the limbs.
