RE: Soft Lure Floating issues
ive gone gang busters on the Horny Toad, and caught some good fish with it, but its winding down now and I'mhaving a lot harder time catching them on the Horny Toad now. I know where the fish are, and can repeatedly get them on live minnows when searching for bass hideouts, but when i throw the frog in there, ive been getting skunked. When I do get the hit now, its right when the frog slaps the water. It now seems that if they are gonna hit it, it's within one second of it plopping down on teh water surface which I believe is a reflex bite, and not because I convinced them it was a tasty treat.
One thing I have started doing though, is holding my soft plastic lures up to the light instead of looking at them in the bags. When I hold them up to a light, the lure changes color drastically, and you get to see it how the fish sees it because the fish sees the lure when the sun is shining through it. If you have any watermelon red Horny Toads, look at one of them in the palm of your hand like you normally would, then hold it up to the light....COMPLETELY different color, it turns to a nice light green with a tiny hint of red in the middle, pretty neat. So now, anytime I'm buying soft plastics, I holdthem up to the light and look through the lure to see the "true color".
