The T3 was fine. In fact, I thought absolutely NOTHING about the impact. Later that day, I had a shot on a buck. He was 30yds from me. I shot, and watched the snow fall off a pine tree, 20' up and to the left of him. Would have been more accurate throwing a rock. 2 days earlier, that rifle with that scope was shooting 1-hole 100yd groups.
If the scope knocked off 20' at 30 yards,it should have been obvious that the barrel was pointing in another direction as you aimed at the deer.It also casts a great deal of doubt on the quality of the scope.I have had a Zeiss scope driven into a tree by a runaway horse, with me still on it as it ran through the trees after stepping on a hornets nest and being stung, and the scope held zero despite the very harsh impact.
Plus, what if there is sign of bear scat while I'm walking? I'll need to be able to get the scope off quickly so I can handle a charge in heavy cover.
I have been charged by a grizzly, and the scope set at 3x was in no way a handicap. For a person experienced in using a scope,a low power scope is actually quicker than open sights.
