Gangly..are you referring to the Horny Toads..[8D]They can be frustrating..I find the bull frog color floats the best..You are right about the colors..some seem to sink real fast..Fact..if ya watch the bullfrog..he will actually float..However; I think fish wise up to lures..I haven't caught a Horny Toad fish in about 5 outings..Where I fish at is 1 mile long by nearly a 1/4 mile.wide .I'm going to start fishing segments of it hard instead of the whole place..After 9:00 AM..it's been too hot anyway..i usually leave..ALso..our lakes are turning over..meaning the bottom of the lake floats to the top..[&o][&o]
