Since your in Wake county, I would suggest you try the Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Lands. Lots of deer in there (a neighboring community called Stagville got the name for a reason
). It's easy to get to from Wake County. I have only hunted in the area around Red Mill Rd and Old Oxford Hwy during Bow Season - very quiet there - not too many other hunters. Can't tell you about rifle season though as I clear out by then.
You'll probably want to get the Sportsman license that includes hunting in the game lands.
