RE: PA VOTED WORST DEER STATE IN NATION
Rsb will post nothing of the such, because such data doesnt exist. He has zero legit data on hunter satisfaction, and he has zero data on how many deer it would take to make us happy. He also doesnt have a clue as to how many deer it would take to compare to other states harvest rates, as with increase to the herd, the harvest rate would change at an unknown undocumented rate, which absolutely wouldnt run exactly parellel with the rate of herd increase. The increase in recruitment would also have to be factored, and that has proven to change with herd dynamics changing. He can give an opinion and thats the extent of it. A HIGHLY biased/skewed opinion i might add, especially after showing how he feels about the hunters of this state by saying he wished theyd take their money and take a flying leap!!
Given the fact we have fewer hunters than previously, one could argue it wouldnt take as many deer to make them happy. Though the hunter numbers didnt decline anywhere near the same rate as the deer herd did!
It would also seem common sense that with ANY reasonable and measurable herd increases, satisfaction would elevate at the very least somewhat compared to now. Id say making NO changes and not improving satisfaction at All, because maybe EVERYONE still wont be "tickled to death" so we'll just keep satisfaction at rock bottom in the crapper just doesnt make any sense at all.
Id say for THIS area, that simply abiding by the supposed goal 4 years ago of stabilization, allowing herd growth to get us back that point and then stabilizing as was supposed to be the case all along. Cannot remember exactly the decrease AFTER that point, which was completely uncalled for after we already took our "prescribed" lumps, but Id imagine 15% or so increase and STOPPING the continued reduction would be a very slight bone to throw the sportsmen, yet one that would go a long way.
As for other areas, Id have to look into in depth, but I dont think there are any areas that couldnt handle slight increase and NO FURTHER DECREASE which is continuing as attested to by pgcs own annual report data.
Regardless of wether we think there should be 5% or 50%.... Have not only ZERO percent increase, but CONTINUED decrease despite claims of stabilization is about as asnine as it gets, yet that is exactly what is happening. And I assure you, that is NOT the way to the hunters of our states hearts. LOL.
