Default RE: Advice on planning an elk hunt?

Hey Mr.Grizzlybear
Well he is how I see it,if you wan' t an adveture aplly for tag in Montana ,Idaho,Colorado, and Wyoming( I say these areas because their is alot of Public land).Start buying you gear NOW!Then start doing you home work and look at every state or the areas you apply for. When you draw you tag realy start doing home work call Ganme wardens, biologists, sporting good stores, any one who knows hunting or about the state you have drawn in.You can do this on your own.

Seacond option is this hire a outfitter and do a Semi-guided hunt, the do all the foot work for you and supply almost all the gear(Horse,Trailer, tent, firewood, packing services, put you in a area to hunt, help point out were the game is,food water and so on.)you bring the rest. All this from around 700-2000 dollars.

Option 3,
Hire an outfitter for every thing, garunteed tags, beds ,cook, guide, everything you need but rifle and clothes. This can be done for around 2500-5000 grand.
So start planning.BBJ
