I'm a 410 nut...I have several and shoot them almost daily. A 410 can be very frustrating for a kid. Their pattern is 1/3 that of a 20ga at just 25 yards. If the kid can take the recoil...get him a 20 guage.

I like starting kids with a scattergun. After they've downed several squirrels...then introduce the 22.
