I guess you do not know what list price means?
I didn't bother with list prices, since in this case ,they aren't at all what a person would expect to pay.I believe that it is far more accurate to use prices that people are actually paying for the product.
The pricing I gave were lists prices from the hornady site and was responding to your quote above and I pointed out the costs of the heavy mag7mm are far higher than the standard 06.
The pricing that you posted were not at all realistic,so they prove nothing. The actual costs listed by the suppliers that I referenced prove that the 7mmremmag heavy mag loads are only $6 to $8 a box more than the 30-06 light magnum loads,so the heavy magnum loads are not really far higher than the light magnum loads. If you can afford to pay close to $40 for a box of ammunition, and extra $6 or $8 is not going to break the bank.
Even your own Light Mag to Heavy Mag comparisons demostrate a 20% higher costs for the 7mm for nearly identical performance.
Except that the performance is not nearly identical.
At 400 yards the 7mm heavy magnum load drops 3-1/2" less with a 200 yard zero, and at 500 yards the difference is over 7" compared to the 30-06 light magnum load.
Coincidentally, the difference between the standard 30-06 165gr interbond load and the 30-06 light magnum 165gr interbond load are virtually identical.
So if 3-1/2" at 400 yards and 7" at 500 yards are nearly identical to you,why both with the 30-06 light magnum load?
