RE: Contest trash talk

This is my first year to captain a team. We are currently in second place just 40 pts out of first. It's been a great contest and a lot of fun.
I wanted to know if it is unusual for people to sign up for this contest then disappear? Two guys on our team meet that discription. They signed up, posted once or twicein our thread to verify they wanted to be in the contest, then never returned (one kid posted twice but the another guy never posted again). I PM'ed the kid who posted once and he informed me that his trap shooting schedule precluded him from going turkey hunting and he was too busy. I got a laugh out of that.
My question - why does someone sign-up for a turkey contest then never go hunting? Makes no sense to me.
