I think that the author makes some good points, but I can also see there being hassles associated with open carry. In a perfectly rational society, I don't think it's be an issue, but we we live in a country full of paranoid soccer moms and cell phones. If open carry and CCW were legal in Iowa, I'd think I'd opt for concealed, simple because I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of some scared idiot calling the cops every time I walked into the grocery store. Legal or not, if the cops get a 911 call from a scared stupid woman complaining about a guy with a gun, they ARE going to respond, and you will have to then have to convince them that you were not being in any way menacing to her. If the gun is concealed, this would not be an issue. The only way I'd open carry is if I were an off duty or plain clothed LEO, and the holster was right next to my shield.

Mike your post is spot on. This is the very reason I have chose to open carry. It needs to get to the point when the soccer mom calls 911 the dispatcher tells her not to call back until someone is breaking the law. I'm not sure I agree 100% with all of the views in the original open carry post. I am much more comfortable carrying concealed.
