Default RE: Target Panic

Rack...I agree and disagree about the backtension thing with any release.

You are correct that properly executed, any release can be fired using backtension, but some of the longer trigger travel releases (i.e. Trufire Tornado) have such a long trigger pull, that those of us who are fighting the whole target panic thing just end up punching it anyway. Your concious mind says to keep up the BT, but your trained in subconcious is screaming " PUNCH IT NOW!"

WBH

I am currently working through my own personal target panic issues and a BT release has significantly helped me in that arena. Try as I did, I could not stop myself from punching the trigger as the pin drifted over the X. Since going to a BT release for practice I am forcing myself to properly execute the shot sequence (Draw, anchor, aim...aim....aim....aim....aim....aim....fire). I no longer know exactly know when the release will go off, so I am forced to continually concentrate on aiming. Just in the last week or so my groups have significantly tightened up with both the BT and the wrist release. It took me about a month, but it is really starting to pay off now.
