Default RE: choke tube ?'s

ORIGINAL: zmschillin

I decided to keep the tight wad. Went out and shot it in my Remington 870 wing master 12 ga. I shot 3 inch Winchester supreme.
At 25 yards I put 38 BB's in the head and neck area.
at 50 yards I put 13 BB's in the head neck area.
at 25 yards with 00 buck shot it was in a 12'' circle...in case a coyote decides to walk past my decoy

I think this will do the job for me this year
Zach,
What size shot are you using, and is it lead or hevi-shot?
Go to the top of the turkey hunting forum and there is instructions on the best way to pattern turkey loads. Draw a ten inch circle aroud the tightest part of the group and count how many pellets are in the circle. Regardless of shot size the standard acceptable minimum number of pellets in that ten inch circle is 100 pellets, without many clusters or holes. My 870 doesn't like Winchester ammo at all, I tried three different loads then I gave them all away. I shot Kent and Remington shell with 2 oz of #5 shot and they patterned almost identicle, there was no need for the extra energy of the #5's because there wasn't enough pellet holes in the target beyond 30 yards. So I went back to the store to get remington 2 oz of #6 shot. #6 lead has enough energy to kill out to 45 yards. Now I just picked up Hevi-13 with 2 oz of #6 shot, I haven't patterned it yet buy i'm expecting good results.
Good luck..............Mike
