I have to ask why you were using a scoth brite pad on your gun.

Good look with that stuff from the store. It gets messy and the directions ask for you to completely strip your barrel down and reapply. Your best bet is to leave it alone or get it reblued by a gunsmith. Take it to a good one because I've seen some barrels come out of the boil bath warped.
