I went out and got my 9 year old his first .22. JC Higgens Single Shot Bolt action.I got a used one for is first rifle. Took it out and it shoots to the left about 6" it 50yds. The front sight is fixed and the rear sight is adjustable for vertical only and I can not adjust it from left to right. Guy at the gun shop told me to "carefully bend the barrel a wisker" to get it straight. I dont know about that, I figure I can scope it before I screw up the barrel. What do ya think?
I would not try to bend the barrel! Put a scope on it and ignore the iron sights!
Bingo! Scope it.

Anyone who says "bend the barrel" is clearly too stupid to be working in a gun shop, particularly if part of the job description is dispensing advice to new gun owners...
