I thought the meat ban was lifted, you might want to look into that a little more though. If you are driving through the border, have the paperwork that says you are allowed to bring the meat through on your person, the agents at the border might not be informed and would play it safe.

Another option is to see if you could rebook the hunt for next year and keep the $1000 deposit for next years hunt, the ban should be gone by then if it isn' t already. The outiftter will hopefully work with you on that.
