Default Food Plots

Hey everyone, my family and I are thinking about planting some food plots this year. We have never planted them before so I was looking for some input. I know generally the first step is to get a soil sample to determine Ph in order to determine how much lime the soil needs. The area we are going to plant used to be an old hay field but it hasn't been farmed in years. So my first question is how much does lime generally cost? I know you can buy it in bulk but we would probably get it bagged as a matter of convenience. My second question would be what is the best seed? The land we hunt is generally well drained, and located in central NY. I know clover is a staple food plot crop so we will probably plant at least some of that, but I was wondering about other suggestions. What would make a good cold weather plot? i know clover generally loses most of its value after the first frosts hit.
