RE: anybody heard about the knight .52??
i recieved a press release from knight on the .52. the .52 caliber enables the use of bullets with superior ballistic charactheristics, resulting in big bore knock down power at extended ranges. optimal bullet weight is 350-375 grains, with a diameter of .458-.475 inches. the .52 out preforms the .54 due to the bullet/sabot fit. the thinner petals used with the .52 prevent gas leakage, and allows the bullet to release immeadiately after leaving the muzzle, both witch enhance accuracy. the power stem technology uses 150 grains of LOOSE 777 powder. there is a little tube on the breech plug to ingnite the powder from the front of the charge, right behind the bullet, which increases overall velocity, and reduces recoil. the .52 boasts an 11% increase in velocity and a 32% increase of energy at 150 yards compared to .50 magnum loads. also aiding in recoil management is the XCoil recoil pad wich absorbs felt recoil 33% more effectively than the 2nd best recoil pad on the market today.
sighted on at 100 yards, the .52 using .375 grain bullet leaves the muzzle at 1938 ft/sec and has 1869 ft./lbs. of energy at 200 yards
bullet drop is 10.57 inches at 200 yards, compared to 12.97 inches with a .50 with a .350 grain bullet with 3 pellets of powder.
sounds like a great gun to me, but not great enough to drop my disc extreme.
