I can shoot groups dime size with the 25-06 and can reach 3400fps. I don't think you can do that with .270 and I have 2 of them but they aren't used anymore. Lots more freedom in reloading and with some work you can develop a point of aim with the 25-06 of about 350 yards With the fps the deer just seem to drop. Check out article by Russell Thronberry on the 25-06
This man knows whats up
Wrong. Only the lighter .257 bullets can be pushed to 3400 and theyre not the kind youd use on deer and big game. Thats if you handload and your rifle has a 26" barrel. A factory 100gr deer load is gonna be around 3000fps and a 117gr around 2800 in most barrels, same as a 270 w/ bullets of similar sectional density and ballistic coeifient. Deer loads will have similar ballistic out to any range and there is absolutly no logical reason a 2506 is more acurate than a 270 in the same model rifle. However the 270, although a bit more vanilla, is a bit more adequate for game larger than deer, if you decided to go after bigger stuff someday. 270 is also much more readily available and cheaper. Even if you handload 270 brass is cheaper. a 270 will even be lighter in similar guns cause the bore is bigger. The only advantage the 2506 has, is the slightly less recoil.

Oh and as far as gun writers go, c boddington a much more well know writer than russel whatever , chose the 270 as the worlds most "perfect deer cartrige" not to mention it was jack oconner, who is considered god in the gun writer world, favorite too.
