Comparing hounds and bird dogs? What pumpkin truck did some of you guys fall off of?
There is absolutely no comparison!!!!!
When we hunt coon we only run straight hounds, no trash was allowed. If they ran trash , we either sold them or gave them away. Never kept a hound if it ran anything but coon. Yes this is possible cuz we did it. We hunted many times where we went on private land to get the dogs back. Sometime they ran coon many miles and you just can't keep up. A SHOCK COLLAR TO GET THEM TO COME BACK?YA REALLY DON'T THINK THAT DO YA?That will ruin your dog. We have had dogs tree on a tree that had an electric fence on it and they got shocked and never ran a coon again. The reason you can't run bearIN CERTAIN AREASis because hounds can't read and end up where they don't belong. I say if you can get in and get out, without upsetting someone, do it and learn a lesson. On the other hand I had some guys coon hunting on my land and they spooked my Reg.Quarter horses, the horses went through the barb wire fence and we had a huge loss because of it . The County paid the damages (dog damages) and then went after the hunters. Just be careful where you turn out, always check it out first!
