ORIGINAL: BetterBirddogs

Let me say first that I run birddogs and while they run big they are no where near a hound. Having said that, if you don't have any control over your dogs then don't turn them loose. If I were a landowner and I find the dogs on my place treed they are gettin' killed and if I find you there illegally your going to jail for criminal tresspassing and poaching. I have permission to run dogs on a lot of ground here at my place and I keep my dogs on the places I can run. You need to do the same as a responsible dog owner. Guys like you who let their dogs run all over hell and back are the reason many guys can't get on places to run dogs anymore.
AlthoughI wouldn't go as far as Sproulman did I would make things very dificult for you to live in my area that is for sure. As 2 lunger has stated you are the reason that give dog hunters a bad name. You have a complete lack of understanding from bird dogs to hounds. No matter what the hound chases he is bred to give chase. The hound doesn't give up very easily as it is the way they are. I hunt bird dogs as well as you and yes they are under my control. Though one of my dogs is strickly for flushing and locating birds as it covers more ground quicker than my pointer does. It still responds to my commands though. Unlike a hound that is bred to track and find the game it is trained on. Completely different than bird dogs. But to shoot someones dog is beyond reasoning IIMO and that would like being able to say you shoot dogs so you shouldn't be able to own one yourself. Because a dog is chasing coon, fox, coyote, cat, or bear does not give you the right to shoot it. Alot of people running some of these dogs use radio transmitters in order to keep up with them. Shock collars would not work in these cases as they are to far out ahead of them. You need to taught a lesson here from all this crap you keep saying and i to would like to know the same question. What if some one shot your prized bird dog right out in front of you? Please give us your answer..
