Statjunk has an excellent point. Any rifle that has custom work will USUALLY be better than mass produced work, and shoot better/work slicker too.
I don't know Neil my stock Marlin 1895SS in 45/70 is pretty accurate with my reloads.
By the way if you get a 45/70 I have an excellent slightly compressed load worked up for mine, that I would share with you bud?
