Tigers?!

I' ve only taken 1 shot at a deer so far. (just don' t get enough time in the woods)
Of course it had to be the biggest, badest buck I' d ever seen anywhere in person.
He had main beams as thick as my wrist! What a beauty!
My arrow clipped a twig about two thirds of the way to him and skipped JUST over his back. He didn' t even duck. I would have had him, but I guess he was supposed to get a little bit bigger before I have to drag his big butt out to my Blazer.

Anyway, that' s the only one I got a shot at, and although he didn' t run that far, the woods were just too dense to do anything but try to slow down my heart rate to something less than 1000bpm.

I only had 2 other opportunities to take shots and I' m proud to say that I didn' t take them because they presented a very slim chance of a clean kill. The first one, I was on the ground and 4 does came straight at me, the lead doe busted me mid-draw at about 18 yards-no shot, they were all facing me head-on and watching me very closely. Finally after I was shaking too bad, had to let it down and watch them disappear in a leaf-storm of hooves and snorts.

The second was far less dramatic. It was to dark, couldn' t see the pins, and even though the doe and the buck on her tail wer just slowly walking by broadside at about 5 yards, I just had to let them go. I could barely even make them out in the early morning gloom. It wasn' t their day to go. What a feeling though! Being that close, on the ground, and having them just wander right by oblivious to my presence. I successfully picked out a good trail after much time spent scouting, and they didn' t even know I was there. I had done it! Now if I could just see my pins.
