Default RE: Coyote Hunting

were i hunt it doesnt matter where you sett up, but it does matter what you shoot. use a 22-250 with a 55gr v-max bullet and it will put him down. screw the .204 we shot one with it and found it about a week latter using our nose. my gunn(1971 custom remington model 700 22-250) splattered the brains and guts every where. i shot it in the head from 200 yards away and the v-max came out the butt.
Sorry, BUT I don't beleive a word you just spewed. For one thing, the v-max bullet is NOT going to penetrate the full length of a coyote, and I don't care what the range was. Obviously to "splatter brains and guts every where", the bullet didn't exit the butt, it exited some where else, or the guts would've still been in the coyote. Secondly, I've shot more than a couple of coyotes with a .204, and it kills them just as dead as my 22-250 used to. Loosing one coyote do to bad shot placement isn't much proof that the caliber isn't up to the task. Heck, I lost coyotes over the years that were shot with my 22-250, but I certainly never blamed the caliber.
Also, it always matters where you set up, do it wrong and you won't kill very many coyotes, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut ever now and then.
You might be able to pull the wool over some, but you're not going to fool every one with this kind of garbage.
