I bet it will shoot conicals with 80 - 100 gr BP or Pyrodex pretty well. That's what I'd try first, also helps break in the barrel. Get it on target at 20-25 yds, then move to 50 to see what load it likes best, then see what your max effective range is. With a conical upwards of 300-350 gr., optimal sight-in for open sights will probably be about 1-2" high at 50.
