I shoot a Bear Lights Out at 60#. It is a very nice bow for the money. I've shot the more expensive bows (bowtech/hoyt/matthews/..) at variousarchery shopsand I like them a lot, I just couldn't afford them at the time...And after shooting multiple bows in my price range, the LightsOut was the winner. It pulls back smoothly and is pretty quiet even without string silencers (but I'd suggestlimbsavers "string leech" for this bow).
It definitely gets the job done, especially when itsshooting slick trick magnums. I think your son would like it, have fun..
