Default The Project

Finally got all the pieces of the puzzle together. The Hawken stock arrived today. Threw the GM LRH .45 barrel on it and got it all sighted in. Wasn't expecting too much first time out with the new barrel. But surprisingly it held its own. Once sighted in it proceeded to punch 3 bullets neatly into the 2" dot at 50 yds with 2 of them touching. Came home and gave it a good cleaning then started on the stock. Stripped off the old finish, did some light sanding and steel wool and wiped it down with mineral spirits. While that was drying, I got the dremel tool out and the buffing wheels and polished the brass. This is the only one I'm going to have the brass shiny. I also got a special plan for the patch box and when I'm done, if it works, I will post a pic.
Got the first coat of Tru Oil on the stock. There is an awful lot of grain in this stock that was buried under the factory finish.
