The only experience I have with a 260 Rem. is a youngster killing a fine mule deer in Eastern Montana. He was one in the camp while I was there too. I do not recall any details about the ammo or how far the shot was. I do have a 6.5x55SE Mauser. The ballistics of the 260 Rem. and the 6.5x55SE two are fairly close. I have killed several deer with this 6.5x55SE rifle. Down here the 260 Rem. cartridge is practically unheard of. I know of no one that uses it. I'm positive it never will be popular, but if I were you, and got a great deal, I'd not be hesitant to buy the rifle, especially if you hand load.
