The 2.5x scopes are selected,because they allow for quicker target acquisition than a higher power scope. Regardless of where you hunt,the 2.5x will allow for quicker target acquisition.
Yep, and they are still more popular for use on African dangerous game at very close ranges than in North America. The point being that the 4.5X is still fine for quick target acquisition and is only 1/2X more than a fixed 4X scope. It's also only just 1X more than the Conquest 3.5X10 on the low end. I don't feel at a disadvantage at all with 4.5 power on the low end and apparently neither does any of the others here who actually own/use this scope.
