A snort-wheeze is a very easy call to duplicate by mouth and I would say one call that most hunters have heard in the wild

! It is done for 2 reasons one to warn others and second to try and pick up the scent of what the deer thinks is foreign but can' t smell or determine. Similar to the foot stomp. I have snorted back at deer and the reaction varies, from nothing, to bolt, to settling back into their routine. I say you should save your money and just try to duplicate the next time you hear that aweful SNORT!!!! I can' t recall where the snort has ever bought me a shot opportunity, it has settled the woods but more often than not it is the start of nothing good to happen, similar to the foot stomp...my only hope is I can some how minimize the damage by producing a snort or shutting up hoping he/she will hit the road quickly[
