The .44 Magnum does indeed have more recoil than the .45 ACP. However, that being said, anyone who can comfortably handle a .45 should have no problem with the .44 Mag.

If recoil is really a concern, try to avoid the smaller framed .44s and the airlite (Mountain) versions with less than 4" barrels. Also avoid the really hot .44 loads like the Garrett.
