After rereading this it' s obvious that Alaska aint the same as upstate NY. In AZ there is really no area for hunting that doesnt have logging roads and cattle and you can use a horse if you want to get to the top of the hills but I can also climb up in an hour from the closest truck road. I just ride on the same roads that you might be drivin your truck down to get to where I start hiking. I know from hunting Montana that there are parts that are truly wilderness and that is a good thing. We all get into answers based on our personal experience and then the fat guy cookie crap starts. Bet that most of us that really hunt elk do basically the same kind of hunting. Those that drive the truck down the road and shoot from the cab or bed probly arent using this forum. Good hunting.
