Reread your link. The questions were in 2003 hunting season. Consider the fact those surveyed had just hunted through the late 90's, + 2000, 2001, and 2002...

The mouthy minority has beenwhining about a percieved lack of deer since the first bonus tag rolled off the presses in the 80's just as they do now. Heck, I even remeber seeing the fanatics tacking up "no doe hunting" signs in the 60's. The lack of deer reason is no more relevant than it'sever been and no more significant statistically.
