Okay,

Why i got into firefighting? My grandpa was one of the founders of my towns departments. I have had alot of family on the department over the years and its just something iw as excited to do.

Behind the scenes? Ill tell ya a secret. Fires are the least most popular thing us firefighters do. For my community, the most popular things are squad calls. That can be anything from a broken bone to sudden illness to DOA's. I do not have my EMT certification yet, so whenever we have these, i usually drive the ambulance. We also get alot of MVA's (Motor Vehicle Accidents).

Money? Right now, since i only have my 36 hour course done, and my department is volunteer, i dont get paid very much. But im not in it for the money. However, full time fire fighters (my eventual career) get paid anywhere in the ballpark of $40,000 a year if not more. Depeneding on how you veiw the wolrd, i consider this a good amount of money.

To become a full time fire fighter (Ohio), you basically have to complete a 240 hour training course, and have your Paramedic certification. Along with a few other courses.

Personelly, iLOVE being a fire fighter
That is supposed to be really hard because my brother is taking this test and he saidit islong and very hard.
