Default RE: Ever been lost in the woods while Deer Hunting?

I have been totaly lost once when I was a kid, but I did find my way back to the truck after I calmed myself down and stopped running around in circles for 5 hours. Ever since then I carry a compass and try to look at a map of the area I am hunting before venturing. I also carry a Topo with me when I go on long treks in the remote wilderness of Paper Company lands. Funny thing is, my sense of direction has really improved by simply learning contours of land and understanding how to follow the terrain.
A course in map and compass is a good thing for everyone to learn!
A good part of todays hunters read a compass as North, South, East and West, but learing about Bearings in degrees, Back Asmuths, True North and Magnetic North can make using a map and compass a handy tool for pinpointing directions to and from newly discovered areas and also when navagating by dark if need be.
